The Yaris carries over into 2020 with a few updates with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility being standard this year.
Model Highlights
The Yaris is offered as a sedan or as a 5-door hatchback. Its available in both body styles in LE and XLE trims, while the Sedan is also offered in a Base L trim. All Toyota Yaris models come with a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine making 106 horsepower and 103 lb. ft of torque. With variable valve timing, the engine is quite flexible and works well with either the available 6-speed manual transmission on the sedan or the 6-speed automatic for both the sedan and 5-door hatchback. EPA fuel economy ratings are 32 mpg city and 40 mpg highway with the automatic, or 30 mpg city and 39 mpg highway with the manual.
Standard features on all Yaris models include daytime running lights, intermittent wipers, a 6-speaker AM/FM/Sirius XM Satellite radio with Stitcher/Aha Internet Radio with auxiliary input, tilting and telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, anti-lock brakes and stability control. Six air bags, including front-seat and side-curtain airbags, are also included. An efficiency-enhancing trip computer is included in the instrumentation that will show instant fuel economy and an "ECO driving indicator" to show drivers how well they're doing. The 5-door hatchback gets a rear wiper standard as well.
The Yaris may be diminutive, but it doesn't sacrifice comfort or interior space. In the 5-door, its 86 cubic-feet of passenger volume and almost 16 cubic-feet of cargo space mean it's comfortable enough for up to five passengers and their stuff. The short 101-inch wheelbase means a tight turning circle of just 32 feet. Suspension is courtesy of a MacPherson strut-type front and torsion-beam rear setup tuned for good ride comfort, while electric-assist power steering maximizes efficiency as well as improving parking-lot maneuverability.
All models feature power-adjustable mirrors, a six-speaker stereo with HD radio and Sirius XM, Bluetooth and a 7-inch touchscreen. Cloth front seats, a split-folding rear seat, and steering wheel audio controls are also included, as is remote keyless entry.
The LE models add passive door entry with push button start, heated sideview mirrors, fog lamps, a rear lip spoiler and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The XLE models get leatherette seat trim, fully automatic headlamps with LED daytime running lights, automatic air conditioning and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter.
Standard advanced safety features on all Yaris trims include the Safety Sense system which includes a low speed pre-collision warning system.
